hey guys,
I had already attached a resume to my job application when I handed it in- should I bring another one just in case? I also wrote down a list of 3 references on the job application, and my achievements..am I missing something? Also why is it inappropriate to wear jeans to an interview? I don't really have dress pants but I do have black jeans

You should always bring the following items to the interview:

1. Several copies of your resume

2. Pen

3. Notepad to take notes

4. Your ID and one other form of identification if they want to hire you on the spot.

Yes, it is VERY inappropriate to wear jeans to an interview. Even if it's black jeans, it does not look professional. Not dressing appropriately is sabotaging your job search. Employers know that you are putting your best foot forward at an interview. Is jeans really your best?

You can try to borrow some from a friend or just get a pair of basic black pants from Goodwill or something. You'll need to dress up for funerals, job interviews and dates so it's always a good idea to have a pair.

If you bring a few extra copies of your resume to the interview then you are demonstrating that you are prepared for anything. Ex: Maybe there is one extra person at the interview and they don't have a copy, you can offer them one because you had the foresight to bring an extra copy. Why no jeans? Well, you can wear jeans but in the business world it's all about professionalism. A pair of dockers is considered business casual which is at the very least how you would want to dress. Let's face it, you will have to have them if you get the job so why not be one step ahead from the get-go. (you can buy discounted dockers at Goodwill or Salvation Army stores for about $4.00 if money is tight).

Be sure to bring your identification with you in case they hire you on the spot. And of course, bring your A-game. Be prepared to answer interview questions. Practice answering out loud so that you know how it sounds. Smile, be pleasant/courteous and shake hands as you enter and when you leave.

Good luck. Hope this helps.
