I'm 16 and this is my first Actual job. I couldn't find anything else so I came here. I've been working since the 2nd of June but I only work one day a week, sometimes 2 days. So I am still less experienced than all the other new employees. They trained me on front counter at the register and that's quite alright, but that's all they have me do. I take peoples orders and make coffee. I'm not learning anything new like everyone else. I guess I should consider myself lucky but then all I do after I'm done taking orders and fixing the coffee is stand at the register. Everytime I go to assemble some orders so I have something to do, they send me back to my register. I feel bad, I'm only trying to learn:( o feel like they think I'm lazy but they never have me do anything else. They aren't teaching me anything new so I just stand there and wipe the counter off. I feel like they don't want me there and hate when I work. They're all busy with something to do and I'm just standing there trying to look busy. I'm not lazy but they won't have me do anything. I know why, It's because I'm still not that great at register. They only gave me 15 minutes of training and the next day I was on my own. I hate it when something comes.up and they have to put their code in on the screen, but it isn't my fault. Everytime I ask them when.they have.to put the code in, they sigh real dramatic and roll their eyes. As if its My fault. I'm tired of it. They get mad when I ask a question yet they barely trained me, how am I supposed to know Everything when I only work one day a week for an average of 4 hours. I hate that I'm the youngest and least experienced because then they think they can treat me like that because they know I'd put up with it because I'm only 16 and they know I need this job. I thought that when they gave me orientation and I had my interview that McDonald's would be really respectful, understanding and helpful. Like they advertise. **** No! I can't wait til I get my education so I can wash my hands of those people. I can't believe I really thought they treated the workers good. I have seen a side of the real world and I hate it:P oh well. I just want to know why they are rude when I ask for help, they always tell me to ask for it, yet when I do, they roll their eyes and sigh. It makes me feel stupid.

Well you're right, if you have lousy training it is to blame for a lot, this is consistent with the laws of training.

If your co-workers are not smiling all day and happy to see you it could be because they hate their job.

I theorize you may be good looking, this may be why you are kept in the front where customers can see you.

Remember you actually compete with the people you work with to some degree.

You say you aren't that great at the register, & you make mistakes and have to ask for help, but when you have free time you want to learn something new and can't understand why they won't let you. Maybe it's because you still haven't learned to work the register. Instead of looking for other things to do, study the register, learn where to locate various things on the register so you'll get better at it and then maybe they'll give you more responsibility.
