Question:
Should I call back after a 2nd interview if they don't call me?

I got called for an interview at a fast food place about a month after turning in the application. After the first interview, they said that I would have to go through three interviews. I felt positive that the interview went well. But the longer I waited, the more I doubted myself and assumed they weren't going to call me. They called 10 days later. I went to a 2nd interview and I thought that went even better than the first one. She said she would call me within the next day or so, but hasn't called me yet and it's now been 9 days since then. Should I bother to call, or wait, or assume I didn't get it? It's making me really upset.

If she said she would "call in the next day or so", then you shouldn't let more that 3-4 days go by before YOU call THEM. Your last questions in an interview should always be:

1. What is the next step?

2. When do you expect to make a decision?

3. Is it alright to contact you?

Employers want people that take initiative and follow through. If it's been 9 days and you haven't heard, and haven't contacted them, it's probably too late.

Calling after a second interview is very unlikely to affect their decision, but if they have hired someone else, at least you'll know and can stop wondering.
